The FAA extends the deadline for Remote ID of drones until March 2024.
The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that it has extended the deadline for drone pilots to comply with the Remot ID rule until March 16, 2024. Remot ID is a system that allows drones transmit their position and identification while flying, in order to improve safety and innovation in airspace.
The Remote ID rule went into effect on September 16, 2023, but the FAA has decided to give drone operators more time to equip their aircraft with the necessary technology. According to the FAA, some drone pilots have had difficulty obtaining Remot ID transmission modules, which are devices that can be added to drones to give them Remot ID capabilities.

Remot ID is required for all drones required to register with the FAA, whether flown for recreation, business, or public safety. as we already explained in our article Are you ready for Remot ID (RID)? ", there are three ways to meet Remot ID requirements: operate a drone with standard Remot ID, operate a drone with a Remot ID transmission module, or operate without Remot ID in FAA-recognized identification areas sponsored by community organizations o
educational institutions known as FRIA's.
Drone pilots who do not comply with the Remote ID rule after March 16, 2024 could face fines or administrative sanctions. The FAA recommends drone operators learn about Remote ID and prepare to adapt to the new regulations.
